About Project Grow

What is our mission?
Project Grow Community Gardens provide the space, education, and inspiration to make organic gardening accessible to all.

Who manages Project Grow?
Project Grow is governed by a volunteer board of directors and day-to-day business is carried out by an Executive Director and a Garden Activities and Education Coordinator. Volunteers play a critical role in the management of the gardens. Each community garden has a Site Coordinator who serves as a vital link between the gardeners and the organization.

What services does Project Grow provide?

Community Gardens
Project Grow provides community garden space to hundreds of area gardeners every year. In addition, Project Grow created and maintains the Discovery Gardens, which are educational theme gardens and are open to the public. Project Grow also offers the wheelchair accessible Barrier-Free Garden.

We are proud of the fact that land used for all of our gardening programs is enriched through soil improvement, landscaping, plantings and careful management.

Gardening Education
Project Grow also conducts gardening education classes and gardening-related programs for adults, senior citizens, children, school classes and adult groups. These classes focus on organic gardening methods as well as raising heirloom vegetables, container gardening, and water usage.

Community Outreach
Project Grow gardeners donate many hundreds of pounds of fresh produce each summer from our gardens to Food Gatherers and other local organizations in our community. Our volunteer program welcomes individuals and groups to lend a hand throughout the season. It's a great chance to start greening your thumb!
